REQUIRED REGISTRATIONS

  • Unemployment Insurance: Job Service North Dakota

  • Income Tax Withholding: North Dakota Office of State Tax Commissioner

 

 REQUIRED INFORMATION

  • SIT ID # (format: XXXXXXXXX XX)

  • SIT payment frequency

  • SIT Letter ID from a recently issued ND SIT mailing

  • SIT authorization form (document and instructions)

  • SUI ID # (format: XXXXXXX)

  • Current year SUI rate.

 

 REGISTERING FOR UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE

If you're a new employer in North Dakota, you will need to register on the Job Service North Dakota website by clicking Create Account and following the prompts for registration.

TIP:

Future-date registration is possible for this state's unemployment insurance!

Once registered, you will receive an Unemployment Account Number (UI) and Unemployment Rate (%) which you will need to enter into Namely Payroll under Company > Tax (UI tax). 

If you have run payroll in the past in North Dakota, you can find your 
Employer Account Number on the Determination of Employer Liability or Contribution and Wage Report (Form SFN 41263).

 REGISTERING FOR INCOME TAX WITHHOLDING

New employers in the state of North Dakota can register with the North Dakota Office of State Tax Commissioner by completing the online registration here.

TIP:

Future-date registration is possible for this state's income tax withholding! 

 Once registered, you will receive a Withholding Tax Account Number (WH) which you will need to enter into Namely Payroll under Company > Tax (WH tax)

If you're an existing employer in North Dakota, you can find your 
Withholding Account Number on the Quarterly Income Tax Withholding Return (Form 306) from the North Dakota Office of State Tax Commissioner. 

 

POWER OF ATTORNEY FORMS

Please note, Namely does not require a Power of Attorney for this state at this time. It is not required to file or remit payments on your behalf. If one is needed to resolve a tax matter, the tax notice team will request one from you at that time.

If a Power of Attorney is requested from you, you should email completed copies of the forms 
namelyPOA@Namely.com with the CID in the subject line for processing. We will update our system and maintain a copy of each form for record-keeping purposes

STATE INCOME WITHHOLDING FORMS

Namely uploads Federal and State W-4 documents to your HRIS site for use during Onboarding, or if you need to send W-4s to employees who need to make withholding adjustments. 

TIP:

The most up to date W-4 documents can be found in the Namely section of the Document dropdown menu in Onboarding and Manage eSignature

Form Name: No state form

Accepts Fed W-4: Yes

Comments: Before starting employment, every employee should provide the employer with a completed copy of a withholding certificate indicating the number of exemptions claimed for income tax purposes. The federal W-4 is used for this purpose; North Dakota does not provide its own form.
